Job summary

Saguaro Elementary School in Casa Grande, Arizona is seeking an Education Specialist - Inclusive Education to support students with special needs and assist teachers with instructional tasks and documentation.

The 10-month, full-time position starts immediately, with duties including adapting activities, administering tests, attending IEP meetings, tracking progress, coordinating with families, and maintaining records and materials to foster inclusive learning.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Pre-employment proficiency test is required.
• Criminal Justice/fingerprint clearance is required.
• Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English is required.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the teacher.
• Administers tests.
• Assists special education students requiring daily care, (e.g. toileting, feeding, etc.).
• Attends Individual Education Program meetings with assigned student(s).
• Confers with teachers and/or parents as may be required.
• Implements instructional programs and lesson plans, (e.g. reading, math, language, comprehension, writing, computer, etc.).
• Instructs students (individual or small groups), (e.g. reading, spelling, self esteem, behavioral skills, daily living skills, etc.).
• Maintains classroom equipment, work areas, student files/records, (e.g. clean up after various class projects, entering grades, adapting instructional materials, audiovisual equipment, etc.).
• Monitors and assists special education students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments, (e.g. classrooms, rest rooms, hallways, cafeteria, labs, field trips, on/off buses, etc.).
• Participates in in-service workshops and training.
• Performs record keeping and clerical functions, (e.g. scheduling, copying, instructional materials, correcting papers, compiling list, etc.).
• Picks up and/or delivers homework/assignments to students at home.
• Provides documentation of students' work
• Responds to emergency situations, (e.g. injured students, fights, etc.).
• Assists other personnel as may be required.
