Job summary

Captain Shreve High School in Shreveport, LA is seeking a Paraprofessional-Inclusion/Resource/Self-Contained to support instructional staff and students with disabilities across classrooms.

Responsibilities include implementing instructional plans, coordinating with teachers, maintaining logs, supervising areas, and assisting with health procedures and behavior supports. A high school diploma or higher education option is required. Salary range listed in posting.

Qualifications

• Must have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent and must meet one of the additional requirements below.
• Associates degree or higher (official transcripts are required).
• 48 hours of college with six hours of Math and nine hours of English (official transcripts are required).

Responsibilities

• Works with students with disabilities in all educational settings individually and/or groups to provide instructional support.
• Implements the instructional plan as developed with the classroom teacher as it pertains to the core curriculum.
• Monitors and adjusts the instructional plan based on student needs; conveys knowledge that is accurate and current.
• Implements strategies and accommodations as developed with the classroom teacher as it pertains to the student’s IEP and Health Plans.
• Maintains a log/schedule providing support to students with disabilities within the inclusive, resource and self-contained classrooms.
• Assists in supervising study areas, cafeterias, halls, playgrounds, field trips and bus loading areas.
• Performs non-complex health procedures and attends non-complex health training as prescribed by policy and state law.
