Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with students with disabilities individually and in groups to provide instructional support across all educational settings.
• Implement and monitor the instructional plan and core curriculum as developed with the classroom teacher, adjusting it based on student needs.
• Execute the strategies and accommodations outlined in the students’ Individual Education Programs and Emergency Health Plans, ensuring safety in all settings.
• Maintain logs and schedules for supporting students in inclusive, resource, and self‑contained classrooms.
• Assist in the supervision of study areas, cafeterias, halls, playgrounds, instructional field trips, and bus loading areas for students with disabilities.
• Perform non‑complex health procedures, implement Individual Health Plans, attend required health training, and lift/position students as needed.
• Implement positive behavior supports and Behavior Plans, collaborating with the classroom teacher to reinforce appropriate behavior.
• Assist students in using computer applications and assistive technology.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
• Perform additional duties related to supporting students with disabilities and assisting teachers/administrative staff.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the following requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pass the teacher/paraprofessional assessment test with a score of 450 or higher.
• Associate degree or higher (official transcripts required).
• 48 hours of college with six hours of Math and nine hours of English (official transcripts required).
• Ability to read and interpret safety procedures, write routine reports, and speak effectively to student groups, parents, and individuals.
• Ability to present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings.

Physical Demands

Regular standing, speaking, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting/positioning students.

Work Environment

Typical noise level is loud; collaboration with instructional staff is essential for effective program implementation.

Professional Conduct

Maintain high professional standards, confidentiality under FERPA, and comply with CPSB policy.

Chain of Supervision

Principal, teacher, designated certified personnel.
