Job summary

Gestalt Community Schools is seeking a dedicated Special Education teacher to support K–12 students with disabilities in Tennessee. You will implement individualized instruction, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and help students meet their IEP goals through inclusive practices.

You will maintain student records, communicate progress to families, and participate in data-driven planning to support academic and social-emotional development across inclusive classrooms.

Qualifications

• TN teaching license in Special Education or Interventionist with endorsement codes (Required).
• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Proven track record of academic success (TVAAS, state assessments) preferred.
• Ability to work in an inclusion environment with a co-teacher.

Responsibilities

• Employ special educational strategies and techniques to develop students' skills.
• Instruct students using phonetics, multi-sensory learning, and repetition.
• Teach behaviors in line with IEP goals and a positive behavior support system.
• Modify curriculum for students with disabilities using various instructional techniques.
• Collaborate with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and other professionals to develop IEPs.
• Maintain accurate student records and prepare required reports.
• Establish clear objectives for lessons and communicate them to students.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed; participate in data collection for interventions.
• Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team and contribute to local/state reports.
