Qualifications

• Holds a current TN teaching license in Special Education or Interventionist with appropriate endorsement codes.

• Uses digital content, technology integration, and project-based learning in instruction.
• Ability to work in an extended day environment.
• Ability to teach in an inclusion environment with a co-teacher.
• Good communication and written skills required.
• A team player with strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Employ special educational strategies and techniques during instruction to improve development of skills.
• Instruct students in academic subjects using diverse techniques and repetition to meet needs.
• Teach socially acceptable behavior per IEPs within a positive behavioral support system.
• Modify the curriculum for students with disabilities using various techniques and technologies.
• Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction and observation.
• Establish rules for behavior and a conducive learning environment.
• Meet with parents to discuss progress and priorities for IEPs.
• Confer with professionals to develop IEPs for student development.
• Maintain accurate student records and prepare required reports.
• Develop clear lesson objectives and communicate them to students.
• Develop plans for communication, monitoring, and follow-up in inclusive settings.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Assist in data collection for appropriate classroom interventions.
• Serve on a multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
• Assist in data preparation for local, state, and federal reports.
• Maintain professional competence through staff development.
