Job summary

Manor Rise Academy in Manor, Texas seeks an Inclusion/Resource Educational Assistant to support a special education teacher with students who have disabilities. You will implement classroom programs, assist with self-help and behavior management, and work under the supervision of a certified teacher.

Educational requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a valid Texas educational aide certificate, and passing MISD paraprofessional tests.

Responsibilities

  • Help manage behavior of students. Intervene in crisis situations and restrain disruptive or dangerous behavior as needed.
  • Learn and adapt to each student’s medical, physical, communicative and emotional needs.
  • Develop motor skills with individual students or small groups.
  • Supervise students throughout the day, including lunch, bus and playground.
  • Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Participate in staff development and meetings.

Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Help special education teacher provide for the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in a special education setting. Assist in implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs. Work under general supervision of the principal and immediate direction of a certified teacher.

Education/Certification
  • High school diploma or GED

Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays

  • Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
