Job summary

Hawkins County Board of Education is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to provide instruction to students with disabilities and to maintain required paperwork at federal, state, and local levels.

The role involves creating a positive learning environment, collaborating with regular education staff, coordinating evaluations, and developing individualized education programs (IEPs) to ensure compliance with IDEA and district requirements.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid teacher’s license with Special Education Endorsement.
• Experience in an inclusion setting is preferred.
• Demonstrate English proficiency in oral and written English.

Responsibilities

• Create and model a respectful learning environment.
• Plan and implement a program of study and/or specially designed instruction.
• Serve as case manager for services to students in Resource Setting or Life Skills.
• Coordinate evaluation of students referred to special education with the district Intervention Team and prepare assessment reports.
