Job summary

Harris County Toll Road Authority is seeking an Incident Response Technician (IRT) to pro actively patrol the toll road system, identify stranded motorists, debris and hazards impacting safety or travel time. IRT assists with incident clearance, traffic control and remediation of minor spills.

Duties include daily patrols, assisting with breakdowns and minor repairs, towing vehicles, transporting patrons, and supporting the Incident Management Team while maintaining tools and equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1-3 years' experience, completes IRT training.
• Ability to work in assigned district with minimum supervision, completed NIMS training.

Responsibilities

• Patrol toll road system for potential hazards or stranded motorists.
• Change flat tires, perform minor vehicle repairs, give fuel and water.
• Tow vehicles to a safe location, transport stranded patrons, and maintain assigned equipment.
• Assist Incident Management Team with traffic hazards, debris on roadway and minor hazardous material spills.
• Monitor assigned toll road areas daily for hazards.
• Respond to major incidents affecting traffic movement as directed.
• Maintain necessary tools and equipment.

IRT also assists with the clearance of incidents, traffic control, and/or remediation of minor hazardous material spills.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Incident Response Technicians (IRT) Patrols the toll road system for any potential traffic hazards or stranded motorist.
• Change flat tires, perform minor vehicle repairs, give fuel and water.
• Tow vehicles to a safe location, transport stranded patrons, and maintain assigned equipment.
• Assist HCTRA Incident Management Team/Maintenance personal when needed by responding to incidents with assistance relating to traffic hazards, debris on roadway and minor hazardous material spills.
• Monitors assigned toll road areas on a daily basis by observing, identifying and attempting to remove/prevent potential safety hazards.
• Responds immediately to major incidents affecting the toll road's traffic movement as directed by the Incident Management Team or when necessary.
• Maintains necessary tools and equipment.

Requirements

Education and Experience

Physical Demands

Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions. Be able to lift/push/move 50 pounds.
