Responsibilities

• Provide in vivo surge support when there is increased need for in vivo ready compounds.
• Carry out in vivo studies on IACUC-approved protocols (IP, PO, IM routes), including dosing and data collection.
• Prepare drug formulations per IACUC protocol specifications.
• Establish and maintain a searchable cryobank database with sample locations.
• Maintain and service lab equipment; assist in purchasing documents as needed.
• Assist in preparing supplies and animal orders for approval by Department Chief or COR.
• Maintain accuracy of study records; upload data to appropriate databases as directed.
• Perform animal manipulations including injections, dosing, compound administration, tissue harvesting, and blood collection.
• Work independently on preparing compound formulations and assist formulation development.
• Contribute to proposals, technical reports, and manuscripts.
• Analyze and summarize experimental data for reports and publications.
• Assist with IACUC protocol preparations and amendments.
• Ensure a safe working environment adhering to BSL-1/BSL-2 regulations.

Culmen International is hiring an In Vivo Laboratory Technician IIto provide support for the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research Experimental Therapeutics Program and will be onsite in Silver Spring, MD.

Experimental Therapeutics (ET) is a drug discovery and development enterprise created to protect military personnel from death, disease, and injury and meet Army and DOD mission requirements. While its historical focus has been radioprotection and parasitic disease, ET applies its core competencies of medicinal, synthetic, and analytical chemistry as well as clinical pharmacology to all therapeutic areas within the Medical Research and Development Command's portfolio. ET has a 75-year legacy of excellence in small molecule drug development, with over 65 Investigational New Drug (IND) applications submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administrations (FDA).

• Provide in vivo surge support when there is an increased need for in vivo ready compounds
• Carry out in vivo studies on IACUC approved protocols to include: anti-microbial infections/inoculations (using multiple routes of administration, such as inter-peritoneal (IP), orally (PO), and intra-muscularly (IM)), treatment, animal husbandry, data collection, and data analysis.
• Prepare drug formulations to the specifications of the IACUC approved protocols.
• Establish and maintain searchable database containing salient characteristics of cryopreserved samples including location in the cryobank.
• Ensure all equipment within the in vivo laboratories are maintained and serviced as required and assist in the preparation of relevant equipment purchase documents.
• Assist the in vivo Laboratory Manager in the preparation of supplies and animal orders for the in vivo laboratories for approval by the Department Chief or COR, as applicable.
• Assist in maintaining accuracy and integrity of study records and input/upload any records into the appropriate database, as directed by the PI.
• Be proficient in performing animal manipulations, to include but not limited to injections, drug dosing (multiple routes of administration), compound administration, tissue harvesting, and blood collection, as indicated by PI.
• Be able to work independently on preparing compound formulations and assist on formulation development.
• Contribute to proposal, technical reports, and manuscript preparation.
• Analyze and summarize experimental data for reports and presentations and publications
• Assist with the preparation of IACUC protocols and amendments as required.
• Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to applicable safety regulations in a BSL 1 and/or 2 laboratory.
