Position Summary

The In-School Suspension (ISS) Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive school environment by overseeing scholars temporarily removed from the regular classroom for disciplinary reasons. This position ensures that scholars in ISS continue to make academic progress, reflect on their behavior, and receive the support needed for a successful return to the classroom — all in alignment with Legacy Prep’s Assertive Discipline Plan, Scholar Reset Program, and Core Values of Love, Boldness, Excellence, Wonder, and Perseverance.

Core Responsibilities
Supervision & Behavior Management
  • Supervise and monitor scholars assigned to In-School Suspension (ISS) throughout the school day, maintaining a calm, structured, and respectful environment.
  • Enforce school-wide behavior expectations and the Assertive Discipline Plan within the ISS setting.
  • Use restorative and trauma-informed practices to de-escalate conflicts and redirect scholar behavior.
  • Maintain accurate daily attendance and behavior logs for all scholars assigned to ISS.
Academic Support
  • Collect and organize daily assignments and coursework from classroom teachers for each scholar assigned to ISS.
  • Monitor and support scholars in completing assigned classwork and homework during their placement.
  • Communicate with classroom teachers regarding scholar progress and completed assignments.
  • Maintain a quiet, focused academic environment conducive to independent work.
Reentry & Communication
  • Collaborate with the Culture Coordinator, School Counselor, and administration on scholar reentry plans following ISS placement.
  • Conduct reentry conferences and check-ins to support scholars’ successful transition back to the regular classroom.
  • Communicate professionally with parents/guardians regarding ISS assignments, expectations, and scholar progress, as directed by administration.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of scholar records and disciplinary information.
Administrative Duties
  • Maintain accurate ISS rosters, referral forms, and documentation in compliance with school and district policy.
  • Track data on ISS placements and behavior trends; report findings to the Culture Coordinator and administration.
  • Ensure the ISS classroom/space is organized, safe, and stocked with necessary academic materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal/Head of Schools.
Core Qualifications
Education
  • Associate’s degree or a minimum of two (2) years of college coursework required.
Experience
  • Prior experience working with school-age children in a school, youth development, or related setting preferred.
  • Experience with behavior management, classroom support, or student supervision strongly preferred.
Skillset
  • Strong classroom and behavior management skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with scholars of varying backgrounds and needs.
  • Strong organizational, record-keeping, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and use sound judgment in high-stress situations.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $24,843 – $34,335, commensurate with experience and aligned with Legacy Prep’s salary scale.

This position is eligible for all applicable benefits (health, retirement, etc.) provided to full-time staff.
