Job summary

The Newmark School in The Newmark School location is seeking an Instructional Paraprofessional – Debriefing Intervention to support students with autism spectrum disorders and related needs. This full-time, in-person role involves crisis response, de-escalation, and implementing behavior plans under the counseling team.

You will attend training on safe restraint techniques and incident reporting, working with school psychologists and social workers to provide counseling and behavior support.

Qualifications

• Certification in safe restraint techniques by Handle with Care and CDT Personal Protection Training.
• Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in a similar role preferred.
• Proficiency in technology and school-specific software.
• Maintain confidentiality, handle multiple tasks, and exercise discretion.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations governing special education; provide testing, evaluation, and counseling.

Responsibilities

• Attend regular training on crisis management, including de-escalation strategies and safe restraint guidelines.
• Respond promptly to student crisis situations to de-escalate behaviors and complete incident reporting.
• Develop, document, and implement individualized behavior management plans with the counseling team.
• Provide in-the-moment counseling and behavioral support to students in crisis, collaborating with supervisors and specialists.
