Smyrna In-Process Quality Inspector Job Description

An In-process Quality Process Inspector uses technical knowledge and experience of manufacturing and testing to conduct audits of the manufacturing process and inspect products. Effective communication skills (both verbal and written) are essential, along with maintaining a good work and safety record. The inspector must be highly motivated, detail-oriented, able to work in a team, exercise judgment and initiative, and follow up as needed, consulting supervisors when necessary. They must embody Schneider Electric's core values.

Candidates should be able to test, read, and interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, Bills of Materials, and work instructions. The role may require periodic overtime on short notice to meet customer demands.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Communication: Communicate quality defects during SIM meetings and escalate major issues to team leads, quality engineers, and supervisors.
  2. Procedures/Policies: Follow Schneider Electric rules, guidelines, and procedures; develop knowledge of HR, Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies; ensure compliance.
  3. Safety: Support safety initiatives, act as Safety Champion, ensure PPE use, and complete safety audits.
  4. Quality: Support quality initiatives, conduct daily in-process audits, product inspections, defect reviews, toll gate inspections, and support in-house testing.
  5. SPS: Develop knowledge of SPS, promote Schneider initiatives, and conduct SPS training for production staff.
  6. Training: Cross-train in testing and inspection procedures, assist with training, and complete relevant safety and soft skills training.
  7. Computer Skills/Software: Use manufacturing systems and MS Office effectively; develop skills in ODM+, Engineering Viewer, Order Editor, Gainseeker, Smart Factory tools, and LDS.
Minimum Requirements:
  • 2-year technical degree preferred
  • At least 1 year of QA/QC inspection experience in manufacturing
  • Basic knowledge of all areas and intermediate proficiency in computer systems
