Job summary

Optical Cable Corporation in Roanoke, VA, seeks an Inspector In-Process – Nights to test optical fiber and sub-cables at various production stages, using OTDR equipment to check length, breaks, and attenuation. You will evaluate data, document results, and ensure adherence to standards while supporting teamwork and quality in a production environment.

Night shift runs 6 PM–6 AM, Monday–Thursday. This role offers competitive pay and benefits, and requires US citizenship or lawful permanent

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and six months related experience preferred.
Ability to set up, run, and monitor test equipment in a production environment.
Ability to read and follow basic instructions and implement quality procedures.
Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation.

Responsibilities

Select optical fiber and sub-cables to be tested based on production priorities.
Strip fiber and sub-cables and use OTDR testing equipment to test for length, breaks, and attenuation.
Observe, measure, and inspect fiber and sub-cables for wall thickness, diameter, concentricity, print, and color as required by the shop order.
Evaluate data to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
Complete all inspection paperwork specific to this job function.
