Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. in Southington, CT seeks a Machine Operator-In Process Inspector to assemble a variety of components and inspect parts to ensure quality for our customers.

You will read blueprints, operate machines, measure with calipers/micrometers, maintain records, and participate in safety programs while helping train teammates.

Qualifications

• HS/GED required; 6 months manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Basic math aptitude required.
• Ability to read basic blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic machining operations using assigned machine tools.
• Inspect parts using basic measuring tools and inform lead of out of tolerance situations; obtain first piece inspection approval.
• Prepare and maintain records and reports; maintain quality standards and a clean, safe work area.
• Observe safety rules and wear PPE as required.
• Operate equipment safely and participate in team work.
• Assist in measuring team performance for safety, quality, cost improvement.
• Read and follow blueprints, diagrams, BOMs to assemble products.
• Perform microscope inspection on assembled parts.
• Maintain inventory of product in workstations.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure standards are met.
• Identify defects and document appropriately.
• Follow quality and safety procedures; attend training and 5S activities.
• Assist in training other associates in procedures and equipment use.
• Read and use inspection equipment and precision tools; apply basic inspection practices.

Job description

As a Machine Operator-In Process Inspector you will be responsible for the assembly of a wide variety of assemblies and subassemblies to produce a quality product for our customer.

Essential responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Perform basic machining operations using assigned machine tools
• Inspect parts using basic measuring tools. Inform lead person of out of tolerance situations. Obtain first piece inspection approval before proceeding. Conduct periodic inspection of parts.
• Prepare and maintain records and reports as required. Maintain established quality standards. Ensure work area and equipment are maintained in a clean, safe and orderly condition, that prescribed safety measures are followed, and established company policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Observe all safety rules and regulations including wearing and maintaining personal protective equipment.
• Operates equipment in a safe manner. Participate as a member of work teams.
• Assist in measuring team performance for safety, quality, cost and to continually improve these measures.
• Read, follow basic blueprints, diagrams, specifications, bills of materials, and/or procedures to accurately assemble products.
• Perform microscope inspection on assembled parts.
• Maintain inventory of product in workstations.
• Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards.
• Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified.
• Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
• Attends required training programs. Performs 5s activities.
• Assist in the training of other associates in procedures and use of equipment.
• Ability to read, use various inspection equipment, precision tools, understand and apply basic inspection and sound measurement practices.

Education And/or Experience

• HS Graduate of Equivalent i.e. GED
• At least 6 months’ work experience in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to remain productive under indirect supervision and follow verbal and written instructions and techniques
• Basic mathematical aptitude required
