Job summary

Sanmina is seeking a Quality Inspector for PCBA/electronic assembly in Manchester, NH. You will perform visual and soldering inspections with high‑power microscopes, ensuring compliance with IPC‑A‑610 and J‑STD‑001 standards, and verify AOI/AXI results. You will review first articles, log defects, and carry out rework as needed.

Experience in PCBA environments and strong attention to detail are essential. HS diploma or equivalent required; ASQ inspector credential preferred.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years in a PCBA or electronic assembly environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; ASQ Certified Quality Inspector preferred.
  • Excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity to handle tiny surface‑mount components.

Responsibilities

  • Visual and soldering inspection using high‑power microscopes to verify solder joints and component placement per IPC‑A‑610 and J‑STD‑001.
  • Automated inspection verification for AOI and AXI, including setup and result verifications to detect defects.
  • First article inspection (FAI): review and approve the first unit of a new production run to ensure compliance with blueprints and BOM.
  • Defect reporting and logging: identify non‑conformities, trigger corrective actions via NCRs, maintain inspection logs.
  • Rework and hand soldering: perform solder touch‑ups and repairs with manual soldering irons.

Responsibilities
  • Visual & soldering inspection: use high‑power microscopes to verify solder joint integrity (e.g., fillets, wetting) and component placement against industry standards such as IPC‑A‑610 and J‑STD‑001.
  • Automated inspection verification: perform setup and result verifications for Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and X‑ray (AXI) machines to detect defects like shorts, opens, and tombstoning.
  • First article inspection (FAI): review and approve the first unit of a new production run to ensure it strictly meets customer blueprints and the bill of materials (BOM).
  • Defect reporting & logging: identify non‑conformities, trigger corrective actions via non‑conformance reports (NCR), and maintain detailed inspection logs to ensure complete accountability.
  • Rework & hand soldering: perform solder touch‑ups and repairs using manual soldering irons for component removal and replacement.
Required Technical Skills
  • Industry standards proficiency: expertise in IPC‑A‑610 (acceptability criteria) and J‑STD‑001 (soldering requirements).
  • Technical reading: ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and detailed customer specifications.
  • Safety protocols: strict adherence to electrostatic discharge (ESD) safety protocols and foreign object debris (FOD) prevention.
Qualifications
  • Experience: typically requires 1–3 years in a PCBA or electronic assembly environment.
  • Education: high school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Inspector are highly preferred.
  • Physical requirements: excellent visual acuity (including color and depth perception) and high manual dexterity to handle tiny surface‑mount components.
