Job summary

MLS Educational Consultants in McLean, VA seeks an experienced Test Prep Tutor to deliver in-person instruction for HSPT, SAT, ACT, PSAT, SSAT, ISEE and AP exams. You will tailor lessons to each student and maintain a supportive, encouraging learning environment.

Responsibilities include creating customized study plans, teaching test-taking strategies and time management, reviewing practice tests, tracking progress, and communicating with students and parents.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience tutoring HSPT, SAT, and ACT.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
• Experience working with middle- and/or high-school students.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small-group test preparation for the exams.
• Develop customized lesson plans based on each student's strengths, weaknesses, goals, and target test date.
• Teach test-taking strategies, time management, critical reasoning, and approaches to different question types.
• Review practice tests and homework, identify areas for improvement, and track student progress.
• Build students' confidence while maintaining a positive, encouraging learning environment.
• Communicate progress with students and parents regarding progress and recommendations.
• Stay current with changes to test formats, scoring, and testing strategies.
