Job summary

College of Charleston invites applications for an Adjunct Lecturer of Spanish (or Portuguese) to teach in-person introductory courses (SPAN 101–SPAN 202) on our historic downtown Charleston campus. This is a part-time, non-tenure track position for the Fall semester, with renewal possible based on needs and performance.

We seek dynamic, student-centered educators who foster basic language acquisition and cultural competence through communicative and inclusive teaching.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Spanish or Portuguese or closely related field; 18 graduate credits in Spanish or Portuguese.
• Professional fluency in Spanish or Portuguese and English; postsecondary teaching experience, especially with introductory courses.

Responsibilities

• Teach in-person introductory-level Spanish language courses (SPAN 101–SPAN 202).
• Possibly teach Portuguese courses (PORT 101/102/201/202) or a PORT 150/250 as needed.
• Part-time, non-tenure track lecturer position for the Fall semester with renewal based on department needs and performance.
