Job summary

University of Maine invites applications for part-time, temporary faculty in fall 2026 and/or spring 2027 in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Instructors may teach MAT 111, STS 132, and/or MAT 115 on campus.

Responsibilities include syllabus design, lesson planning, grading, office hours, student communications, and coordination with other faculty. PhD not required; prior college teaching experience preferred and orientation provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mathematics or Statistics, or the equivalent.
• Master’s degree (or higher) in a related field.
• Academic preparation adequate for the courses to be taught.
• At least two years’ college teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Syllabus development aligned with departmental expectations.
• Lesson planning.
• Assignment design and grading.
• Office hours and student correspondence.
• Use of an online learning management system and/or other instructional software.
• Course coordination meetings with other faculty members.
• Required orientation and training.
