Job summary

Athena is seeking a Creative DEPT. Designer Intern for Summer 2027 in Philadelphia.

This in-person internship runs June 15 through August 11, and interns work 20–30 hours per week at our Philadelphia headquarters. You’ll help create campaign concepts, visual identities, presentations, social content, websites, and marketing materials while gaining hands-on design execution across client and agency projects.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed a degree/certificate in graphic design or related field.
• A portfolio demonstrating design fundamentals and visual storytelling.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
• Understanding of typography, layout, color, and brand systems.
• Ability to translate ideas into compelling visual concepts.
• Strong attention to detail and quality of work.

Responsibilities

• Support development of campaign concepts and visual directions.
• Design layouts, graphics, presentations, social content, and marketing materials.
• Create mood boards, explorations, comps, and initial concepts.
• Explore typography, color, and graphic styles to support ideas.
• Apply core design principles – typography, layout, balance, rhythm, and unity.
• Collaborate with designers, art directors, and copywriters to ensure visuals align with messaging.
• Prepare creative work for internal reviews and client presentations.
• Incorporate feedback and revise work with attention to detail.
• Organize project files and final deliverables.
• Participate in brainstorms and creative reviews.
• Learn how ideas are developed across platforms including social, digital, print, video.
