Job summary

Roanoke-Chowan Community College invites applications for qualified adjunct faculty to teach courses in the CIS program, in-person. Adjunct faculty support student learning by delivering high-quality instruction, maintaining accurate academic records, and fostering an inclusive, respectful learning environment.

Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend, hybrid, or online courses depending on departmental needs.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in the discipline, or Master’s with 18 graduate hours in the discipline.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in the field.
• Relevant industry certifications and licenses.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in the field.
• College-level teaching experience.
• Experience with Moodle, Canvas, or other learning management systems.
• Demonstrated commitment to student success.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach CIS courses in-person and align with program outcomes.
• Develop and deliver instruction using current teaching methodologies.
• Provide students with clear assignments and timely feedback.
• Maintain attendance records and certify attendance by deadlines.
• Maintain grade records in Moodle throughout the semester.
• Foster an inclusive learning environment respectful of diverse backgrounds.
• Report conduct issues following institutional protocol.
• Post syllabi in Moodle and provide printed copies for in-person students.
• Use college email for all communications and respond within 24–48 hours.
• Submit final grades and required documentation by deadlines.
• Remain on site for full duration of each scheduled class meeting.
• Attend scheduled class sessions and arrange coverage if absent.
• Seek Moodle-related technical support from Distance Learning.
• Participate in orientation, training, and professional development.
• Uphold confidentiality of student information per FERPA.
