Job summary

Clearbrook currently has an opportunity for an experienced Staff Accountant to join the finance team at our New York location, with Albany as an alternative. This is a 100% in-office role focused on US statutory financial statements and US GAAP, requiring collaboration across a professional finance team.

The successful candidate will assist with month-end close, reconciliations, audits, and reporting, while supporting process improvements and accurate internal/external reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; 1-3 years in accounting, audit, or financial reporting.
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis) and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of US GAAP; insurance accounting exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end and quarter-end close with journal entries and documentation.
• Prepare reconciliations and investigate variances for balance sheet and income statements.
• Assist with US GAAP and statutory financial reports and schedules.
• Maintain workpapers and support internal/external reporting requirements.
• Perform intercompany reconciliations and respond to audit inquiries.
• Ensure internal controls compliance and assist with accounting research.
• Participate in process improvements and automation initiatives.
• Collaborate with finance and business partners to support reporting needs.
