Job summary

The Michaels Organization seeks an experienced In-House Counsel to join its national real estate development and management team. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will handle transactions, governance, and litigation management across a 35-state portfolio.

You will draft complex real estate contracts, joint ventures, and leases, while advising on regulatory compliance and employment law. This is a high-responsibility, collaborative role suited for senior counsel.

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school.
• Active state bar member in good standing.
• Strong track record in real estate or corporate law with in-house or law-firm background.

Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate complex real estate development contracts and agreements.
• Structure and negotiate joint ventures, purchases/sales, leases, and financing documents.
• Provide guidance on governance, risk, and regulatory compliance across portfolio operations.
• Support management on litigation, contract administration, and external counsel coordination.
• Advise on employment law issues and corporate governance matters.
