Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana is seeking a legal professional to provide broad corporate counsel across governance, regulatory filings, contracts, employment, privacy, and litigation. This role focuses on advising senior management, drafting and negotiating documents, and coordinating with outside counsel to protect the organization's interests.

Louisiana residency or relocation preferred. The position reports to the Chief Legal Officer and does not manage people; strong communication

Qualifications

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to Louisiana Bar or in-house counsel admission within twelve months of hire date.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in the practice of law.
• Insurance or healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in corporate law, governance, regulatory filings, contracts, employment, privacy, litigation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal services across governance, filings, contracts, employment, privacy, and litigation.
• Draft and review contracts, health care agreements, and regulatory filings to mitigate risk.
• Advise senior management on legal implications of corporate strategies.
• Assist with dispute resolution and administrative appeals.
• Coordinate with outside counsel and other stakeholders.
• Ensure ethical, professional practice in all company legal matters.
