Job summary

Mitsubishi HC Capital America Inc. seeks a Legal Counsel to support litigation, bankruptcy, workouts and creditor rights across North America.

This role collaborates with business units, operations, asset management, compliance, HR, IT and external counsel. Ideal candidates have a JD (or Canadian equivalent) with 5–8 years in commercial litigation, strong drafting, negotiation and legal research skills, plus familiarity with e-discovery and AI-enabled tools.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Canadian LL.B./J.D. required.
• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in a U.S. state and/or Canadian province, or eligible for in-house authorization.
• 5–8 years of experience in commercial litigation, workouts, bankruptcy, creditor rights, restructuring, equipment finance, commercial finance or related areas.

Responsibilities

• Support litigation, dispute resolution, bankruptcy, workouts, restructuring, and related matters for U.S. and Canadian operations.
• Assist in managing outside counsel; oversee budgets, staffing, invoices and performance.
• Develop templates, procedures and guidance materials for litigation processes.
• Participate in risk management and regulatory/compliance initiatives.
• Support litigation operations, information governance, and e-discovery efforts.
