Job summary

KIPP DC Public Schools is seeking an In House Substitute Teacher for the 2026-27 school year in Washington, DC. The role supports instruction during absences, covers classes, and assists the lead teacher with planning and classroom management.

The position is in-person on a KIPP DC campus with hours roughly 8:00 am–3:30 pm, two to three days per week, and may lead to other opportunities within KIPP DC depending on performance and openings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Commitment to serving students from communities with limited access to education.
• Ability to assist reading, writing, and math instruction.
• Strong communication with families and caregivers, including culturally responsive partnership.
• Flexibility to adapt to new tasks.

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with students, families, and teammates and support classroom culture.
• Internalize and deliver standards-aligned lessons and adapt to different grade levels and subjects.
• Attend staff meetings, participate in professional development, and receive feedback.
• Assist with daily routines and school events, and ensure professional conduct and timeliness.
