Job summary

Cherry Bekaert is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join our Legal and Risk Management team. You will provide strategic legal counsel on contracts, subpoenas, employment law, and general litigation, partnering with the General Counsel and business leaders to proactively identify and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities include handling subpoenas, managing document collections and litigation, drafting settlement agreements, and supervising outside counsel.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school is required.
• Active license to practice law in the state of employment or eligibility for admission by waiver.
• Prior in-house counsel experience and/or law firm practice is required.

Responsibilities

• Handle all stages of responses to subpoenas, summonses and third-party information requests.
• Manage document collections, reviews, and legal hold processes.
• Manage litigation and administrative proceedings against the Firm.
• Draft state-specific settlement and confidentiality agreements.
• Direct and oversee outside counsel, including litigation strategy, budgeting, case management, and settlement negotiations.
• Represent the Firm in client disputes and negotiate client/vendor agreements.
• Provide legal counsel on employment relations, wage and hour issues, and compliance with employment laws.
