Job summary

Riverhead Building Supply Corp seeks a Lawyer - Corporate Counsel to draft and manage contracts, handle collections and real estate transactions, and provide cross-departmental legal counsel. You will review advertising materials for compliance and advise on litigation strategy.

The role requires a JD and NY license, with extensive experience in contract, real estate, and employment law, plus strong litigation and research skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3–4 years associate level experience or equivalent.
• Paralegal experience and a law degree will be considered.
• Strong litigation skills and experience drafting pleadings, discovery, and motion practice preferred.
• Experience with enforcement of money judgments is a plus.
• Knowledge of real estate matters including residential and commercial closings and building construction loans preferred.
• Experience with union and non-union environment, collective bargaining and wage/hour a plus.
• Experience with contract law and employment law as well as legal research preferred.
• JD and/or graduate from ABA Accredited Law School; must be licensed to practice in NY.

Responsibilities

• Draft, manage and revise contracts including sales agreements, vendor agreements, and real estate leases.
• Handle customer collections (legal letters, liens, bankruptcies, lawsuits, and satisfaction letters).
• Review advertising materials and other publications for legal compliance.
• Prepare and review construction financing and related closing documents, mortgages, and satisfactions.
• Research and analyze various legal issues involving company operations.
• Review, analyze and interpret applicable statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, and regulations relevant to the company.
• Prepare business and legal communications to internal and external customers.
• Collaborate and prepare company litigation and provide counsel for Sales, Finance, Marketing, and Management.
• Represent the company on traffic tickets including court appearances and related documents.
