Job summary

Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens in Virginia seeks a Medicaid Personal Care Services aide to help clients remain in their homes. The role requires compassionate, independent care and the ability to follow schedules and care plans.

Duties include assistance with activities of daily living, meals, mobility, safety supervision, and light housekeeping. Candidates must be 18+, fluent in English, have a 40-Hour PC Aide certificate or be a Virginia CNA in good standing, and pass necessary

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and fluent in English.
• Must have a valid Social Security number, driver's license, and own transportation.
• Must be medically cleared, pass a drug screen, and pass a criminal background check.
• Must possess a 40-Hour Personal Care Aide certificate from an approved program or be a CNA licensed in good standing.
• Prefer a minimum of 1 year of experience providing personal care assistance to patients.

Responsibilities

• Assist with dressing, undressing, and bathing including routine skin care and external catheter maintenance.
• Assist with grooming, hair care, nails, and shaving with electric razor.
• Assist with teeth, mouth, and dentures care.
• Provide incontinence care and toileting assistance; manage external catheters if applicable.
• Assist the individual to ambulate or transfer; may involve lifting 25–50 lbs or more.
• Prepare meals and assist with eating or feeding per dietary restrictions.
• Remind and assist with medication schedules without handling dosages.
• Provide supervision for client safety when no other support is available.
• Perform routine wound care and report vital signs and changes in client condition.
• Light housekeeping in main living areas and assist with supplies and errands.
