Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice in Jersey City is seeking Associate Veterinarians to provide compassionate in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care. You will work independently in the field with a collaborative leadership team and dedicated support staff to ensure high-quality patient and family care.

This privately owned practice emphasizes flexibility, autonomy, and a low-stress medical environment, with opportunities for ongoing training and professional growth.

Qualifications

• DVM, VMD, or BVMS from an accredited veterinary school.
• Active veterinary license in the state of practice (U.S.).
• Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
• Availability to work some weekends on a rotating schedule.
• Background check and MVR check post-hire and prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care in a compassionate, Fear Free–aligned manner.
• Support families through the end-of-life process with empathy and professionalism.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
• Collaborate with Heartstrings’ medical leadership and support teams.
• Participate in ongoing training and clinical development.
