Job summary

Community Horizons in Appleton, WI is seeking compassionate respite care providers to support families with children and adults with special needs. The role offers flexible 20–40 hour weeks, evening and weekend shifts, and in-home as well as community activities.

You will supervise, assist with daily living tasks, transportation, homework, meals, and emotional support while using de-escalation strategies to maintain a calm, safe environment.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
• Able to pass a Wisconsin background check.
• Experience working with adults or children with complex needs (Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, Autism, ADHD, ODD, Etc).
• Proven dependability.
• Understand de-escalation techniques.

Responsibilities

• Keep family informed on respite activities.
• Supervise and ensure a safe environment.
• In-home activities and community-based events.
• Transportation.
• After-school pickup (As-Needed).
• Provide emotional support and use de-escalation tactics.
• Meal preparation and helping with homework.
