Job summary

Community Horizons in Kaukauna, WI is seeking a compassionate respite caregiver to support children and adults with special needs after school, including transportation, personal care, and light meal prep.

Work Monday–Friday after school (no weekends) at $17.97 per hour, with mileage reimbursement when the child is in the vehicle.

Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, pass a Wisconsin background check, and be able to de-escalate and provide dependable, patient care.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
• Ability to pass Wisconsin background check.
• Experience with adults or children with complex needs (Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, Autism, ADHD, ODD, etc.).
• Proven dependability and commitment to caring for children and adults with special needs.
• Ability to understand and apply de-escalation techniques.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals and supervise mealtime as needed.
• Model and assist with personal care tasks.
• Provide 1:1 safety and close supervision for the child.
• Transportation: after-school pickup and possibly activities.
• Offer emotional support and companionship.
• Use de-escalation techniques to calm challenging situations.
• Light housekeeping related to the child (tidy room, belongings).
