Job summary

MaineTouch offers Personal Support Specialist (PSS) roles delivering in-home non-medical care to adults and seniors in client homes. You support daily living, safety, independence, and dignity, with ongoing supervision and training.

No prior experience is required; paid training is provided. We offer full-time or part-time schedules, including day, evening, weekend, and overnight options where applicable, plus mileage reimbursement and opportunities for career growth.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 17 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Active PSS certification in Maine, or willingness to enroll within 60 days of hire.
• CNA (active or inactive) accepted.
• No experience required - training and support provided.
• Must not be listed on the Maine CNA/Direct Care Worker Registry with substantiated findings.
• Ability to work independently.
• Physical ability to assist with mobility and daily activities.
• Strong communication skills.
• Access to a working cell phone for scheduling and documentation.
• Reliable transportation preferred (assignment dependent).

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, toileting, and basic hygiene.
• Support clients with mobility and transfers, including safe movement with or without mobility aids.
• Help with household tasks related to care (light housekeeping, laundry, dishes, changing bed linens).
• Assist with meal preparation, meal serving, grocery shopping, and errands as outlined in the care plan.
• Provide companionship and conversation and support daily routines or hobbies.
• Observe and report changes in client condition or safety concerns to supervisor.
• Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
• Follow infection control and safety guidelines during all client interactions.
• Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and MaineTouch policies.
