Job summary

Small Steps is hiring a passionate Behavior Technician to support individuals with autism in an in-person setting in Olympia, WA. This part-time role (20 hours per week) offers a mid-day/afternoon schedule and pays $23.00 to $26.00 per hour.

You will implement behavior intervention plans, collaborate with BCBA/LABA teams and families, document progress, and participate in ongoing training to improve outcomes for children.

Qualifications

• Experience with autism or developmental disabilities preferred.
• Play-based teaching and assent-based care familiarity a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learners.
• Prior experience in toddler care or classroom settings beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized behavior intervention plans for clients with autism and other developmental disabilities.
• Collaborate with team members, including BCBAs, LABAs, other Behaviour Technicians, and families.
• Engage clients in activities that are fun, developmentally appropriate, and tailored to their interests.
• Maintain accurate records of client progress and document behavioural data as required.
• Foster a positive, supportive learning environment with patience, encouragement, and effective communication.
• Participate in training sessions to strengthen skills and understanding of working with children with developmental needs.
