Job summary

PruittHealth in Burnsville, NC is seeking a dedicated Home Health Aide to assist patients with activities of daily living, including grooming, bathing, nutrition and mobility. You will support patients in bed or wheelchair, monitor changes, and document progress in records.

Responsibilities include light housekeeping, meal prep, nutritional support, and reporting any health changes. You will follow training, ethics, and in-service education to ensure safe, compassionate care.

Qualifications

• CPR Certification.
• Freedom from illegal drugs and alcohol use in the workplace.
• 40 hours of training with at least 20 hours pre-employment and 20 hours in first 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients in and out of bed and/or wheelchair or walking.
• Light housekeeping duties (vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, mopping, trash, laundry, cleaning rooms).
• Changing linens and providing proper nutrition (meal prep, dishes, assisting with eating).
• Observe and report meal accumulations and food storage or cooking equipment issues.
• Grocery shopping and assisting with bill paying.
• Be observant and report changes in member’s condition, meal consumption and food storage.
• Maintain progress notes on changes in condition and needs of the member.
• Apply information from training.
• Adhere to the written code of ethics and dress codes.
• Attend in-service education

Provide or assist with any of the appropriate duties of activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, shampooing, skin care, nail care, assisting with dressing, ambulating, and transferring.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists patients in and out of bed and/or wheelchair or walking.
• Observing and reporting any change in physical activity. Light housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, mopping, emptying trash, and garbage, doing laundry, cleaning rooms.
• Changing linens, proper nutrition such as preparing means, dishes, assisting with eating.
• Observing and reporting meal accumulations and food storage or cooking equipment failure.
• Grocery shopping and assisting with bill paying.
• Be observant and report changes in member's condition, meal consumption, and food storage.
• Maintain current progress notes indicating changes in the member's condition, problem that hinder service delivery, and addition needs of the member.
• Apply information acquired through training.
• Adhere to the Personal Support Service Provider's written code of ethics and dress codes.
• Attend in-service education

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• CPR Certification
• Freedom from illegal use of drugs, and freedom from use and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace. Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for the position.
• Receive a total of 40 hours of training. The aide receives at least 20 hours of this training prior to caring for members. The aide completes an additional 20 hours of training within the first 6 months of employment and must be certified by a licensed physician within 45 days of employment to be in good health including freedom from communicable disease, including tuberculosis in the communicable form, according to acceptable screening methods of the Department of HRS.
• Each personal support aide receives at least 8 hours in-service training per calendar year
