Job summary

PruittHealth is seeking a Personal Care Aide to assist with activities of daily living for patients in a care setting. Responsibilities include helping with bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility, and transferring, along with light housekeeping and nutrition support.

Candidates must complete required training, hold CPR certification, and maintain documentation of patient progress. This role emphasizes compassionate care, ethical conduct, and adherence to facility policies; training will progress

Qualifications

• CPR certification required.
• Must be free from illegal drug use and sexual violence history; compliant with workplace health standards.
• Total of 40 hours training; 20 hours before care, 20 hours within 6 months; physician certification within 45 days.
• Each aide must receive at least 8 hours of in-service training per year.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients in and out of bed and/or wheelchair or walking.
• Observing and reporting any change in physical activity. Light housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, mopping, emptying trash, and garbage, doing laundry, cleaning rooms.
• Changing linens, proper nutrition such as preparing meals, dishes, assisting with eating.
• Observing and reporting meal accumulations and food storage or cooking equipment failure.
• Grocery shopping and assisting with bill paying.
• Be observant and report changes in member's condition, meal consumption, and food storage.
• Maintain current progress notes indicating changes in the member's condition, problems that hinder service delivery, and additional needs of the member.
• Apply information acquired through training.
• Adhere to the Personal Support Service Provider's written code of ethics and dress codes.
• Attend in-service education

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists patients in and out of bed and/or wheelchair or walking.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

1. CPR Certification 2. Freedom from illegal use of drugs, and freedom from use and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace. Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for the position. 3. Receive a total of 40 hours of training. The aide receives at least 20 hours of this training prior to caring for members. The aide completes an additional 20 hours of training within the first 6 months of employment and must be certified by a licensed physician within 45 days of employment to be in good health including freedom from communicable disease, including tuberculosis in the communicable form, according to acceptable screening methods of the Department of HRS. 4. Each personal support aide receives at least 8 hours in-service training per calendar year
