Job Summary

The Import Trade Compliance Specialist will be an integral part of IPG’s Trade Compliance Organization. The responsibilities include organizing and coordinating import information with IPG's Trade Compliance Organization. He/she will be gathering information necessary for import clearances and working in close communication with IPG's Import Brokers, as well as ensuring the accuracy of trade compliance information and documentation relating to imports.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in keeping import records of activities related to imports.
• Work with the IPG Enterprise Resource Planning system to gather data on importing products.
• Properly classify IPG products with the appropriate harmonized tariff code, Schedule B and Country of Origin.
• Verify and maintain international product data including tariff codes, Schedule B and Country of Origin in the classification database.
• Provide shipment clearance instructions to IPG Customs Brokers, and carriers ensuring full compliance with CBP and other government agencies.
• Audit import entries for global IPG business units to ensure adherence to US Import Regulations.
• Review and approve shipping documentation from overseas suppliers to ensure accuracy of documentation for a timely and efficient customs clearance process.
• Responsible for record retention of import documents in accordance with government regulations and Company policy.
• Assist with preparation for participation in government programs, such as CTPAT in coordination with the Global Trade Compliance Import Manager.
• Participate in the creation of Import Compliance procedures and work instructions.
• Prepare and maintain documentation in support of qualification of products under preferential trade programs in coordination with the Global Trade Compliance Import Manager.
• Assist with imports of IPG products for repair and service.
• Knowledge of US trade laws and regulations such as US Customs and Border Protection Regulations, Trade Sanctions, OGA/PGA, BIS, and other regulatory requirements.
• Support investigations, internal and external audits, and other compliance initiatives as required by the business.
• Assist in the preparation of systems automation development and KPI Reporting.
• Perform other trade compliance related duties assigned.

Qualifications

• Experienced in harmonized classification for US and CA.
• Demonstrated experience in Section 301 Product exemptions review.
• Experienced with determinations of OGA/PGA and anti-dumping / countervailing duty requirements for laser industrial systems.
• Demonstrated experience in performing customs declaration auditing.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Associate degree and / or 3-5 years of Customs compliance work experience, or other equivalent certification.
• Ability to travel up to 10%, when required.
• Demonstrated ability with classification in CH 27-29; CH 32-39; CH 72-76; CH 84 & 85; CH 90, CH 98 & CH 99.
• Written communication skills as well as the ability to apply critical thinking skills.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and execute several projects at once.
