Job summary

Thomas Freight, a well-established mid-sized freight forwarder on Long Island, is seeking an experienced Import Operator to join their growing team. The role handles end-to-end import shipments, coordinating with airlines, steamship lines, brokers, truckers and customers.

You will track shipments, manage documentation and milestones, ensure regulatory compliance, and support billing processes. This onsite position offers growth within a stable, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of freight forwarding experience in air and/or ocean imports.
• Strong understanding of import processes and documentation.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Experience with CargoWise is preferred.
• Ability to work onsite in Long Island.

Responsibilities

• Manage international air and ocean import shipments from A to Z.
• Coordinate with airlines, steamship lines, customs brokers, truckers, and customers.
• Track shipments and provide proactive customer updates.
• Handle import documentation, billing, and shipment milestones.
• Ensure compliance with import regulations and company procedures.
