Summary Of Position

The role of Import Logistics Specialist– Destination, is to support growing import and global sourcing initiatives by coordinating daily flow of import goods from origins to distribution centers while proactively addressing challenges as a key escalation point for the Team. This includes serving as a key liaison between our logistics partners, internal transportation teams, distribution center operations, inventory management, and merchandising partners. The Import Specialist will drive operational efficiency by optimizing freight movement, monitoring key performance metrics, and providing strategic insights to management.

Summary Of Position

The role of Import Logistics Specialist– Destination, is to support growing import and global sourcing initiatives by coordinating daily flow of import goods from origins to distribution centers while proactively addressing challenges as a key escalation point for the Team. This includes serving as a key liaison between our logistics partners, internal transportation teams, distribution center operations, inventory management, and merchandising partners. The Import Specialist will drive operational efficiency by optimizing freight movement, monitoring key performance metrics, and providing strategic insights to management.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Daily Operations & Issue Resolution: Serve as primary escalation point for team analysts, managing and resolving complex logistics-related issues as they arise, ensuring seamless operations across the supply chain. Utilize operational dashboards to monitor real-time conditions, track key performance metrics, and proactively address potential disruptions in the supply chain. Monitor DCs unload performance, yard capacity and warehouse capacity to understand any potential impacts to drayage and transload operations. Track product flow from origin to delivery via shipment tracking, yard management, warehouse management and transportation systems to ensure timely receipt of freight.
  • Timely and Accurate Deliverables: Execute action-oriented and insight-based reporting, key business summaries, and ad hoc requests to meet business needs. Prepare financial related reports and analysis for Management and Import Team. Produce forecasts and estimates to aid in decision-making and operational planning. Use ad hoc reporting and analytic methods to understand, predict, and/or control import operations and processes.
  • Onboard & Support Logistics Partners: Provide expert guidance to logistics partners on Dollar Tree’s processes and operational requirements. Lead the onboarding of new carriers and partners, ensuring seamless integration, effective report navigation, and strict adherence to key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive efficiency and compliance.
  • Drayage Carrier and Transload Performance Management: Develop and manage carrier and transload scorecards, ensure compliance with our key performance indicators, identify potential performance gaps, and implement improvement plans or identify alternative solutions that support the business.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategic Process Improvement: Provide insights to leadership on supply chain opportunities that align with merchandising strategies to drive sales growth., review logistics processes and procedures, identifies, recommends, and implements improvements to maximize delivery efficiency while minimizing costs to drive continuous improvement. Partner with stakeholders to roll out new initiatives and integrate them into current processes to enhance business outcomes.
  • PO/SKU Tracking: Utilize logistics data to offer comprehensive visibility into the status of purchase orders (POs) throughout their lifecycle and within the network to drive sales and positive business outcomes.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Access, SharePoint & Power BI


Education/Experience:

  • An undergraduate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Merchandising, or a related field, paired with three years of professional experience. Alternatively, five years of relevant experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Merchandising, or a related field.
