Job summary

Altius Talent | Freight Forwarding Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Air & Ocean Import/Export Agent for an international freight forwarder in San Diego. This hands-on operations role owns shipments from initial booking through to final delivery and collaborates with airlines, carriers, and customers.

You will manage international air and ocean shipments, prepare documentation, monitor milestones, and provide proactive updates to clients, while coordinating collections, deliveries,

Qualifications

• Two years' recent experience with an international freight forwarder.
• Practical experience handling air and ocean freight operations.
• Knowledge of import/export documentation, Incoterms, and international shipping processes.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple live shipments.
• Confident customer communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with CargoWise is advantageous but not required.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Manage international air and ocean import and export shipments from start to finish.
• Coordinate bookings with airlines, shipping lines, overseas agents, truckers and local cartage providers.
• Prepare and check air waybills, bills of lading and supporting shipping documentation.
• Monitor shipment milestones and provide customers with proactive, accurate updates.
• Coordinate collections, deliveries, transfers and destination arrangements.
• Respond quickly to delays, documentation problems and service failures.
• Produce quotations, review vendor costs and maintain accurate operational files.
• Complete billing and ensure files are closed accurately and on time.
• Work closely with customers, overseas offices, carriers and internal departments.
