Job summary

Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS seeks an Extension Agent to lead a comprehensive 4-H youth development program for school‑aged youth, in collaboration with local communities and extension colleagues.

You will design, implement, and evaluate educational programs, recruit and supervise volunteers, build partnerships, and pursue funding to sustain programming. The role includes county‑wide events, serving on the Riley County team, and occasional travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least 12 credit hours of coursework or six months of related experience (education, child development, volunteer management).
  • GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale or evidence of progressively responsible roles.
  • Experience delivering information or training to groups or individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive 4-H youth development program for school-aged youth in cooperation with local community members and extension colleagues.
  • Primary focus: youth development, adult volunteer development, youth education program development, membership growth and participation, community partnership expansion.
  • Identify local needs and emerging issues related to K-State Extension’s five critical issues and engage with program development committees and professionals.
  • Design educational strategies to respond to needs and engage clientele, aligning with the K-State Next-Gen Strategic Plan.
  • Collaborate with local partners to meet community and programmatic needs; recruit and manage volunteers; develop strategies to serve all community audiences; communicate program impact.
