Job summary

The Queens District Attorney's Office is seeking experienced prosecutors for the Vehicular Homicide Unit in the Homicide Bureau. This unit handles cases involving deaths and serious injuries from vehicle crashes, with responders to scenes by a riding ADA in significant cases.

Trial ADAs will manage complex scientific and forensic evidence, combined with compassionate interactions with families affected by loss. A strong background in negligent, reckless, or depraved driving behavior is valued.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and New York bar in good standing.
• Resident of New York State with at least 4 years post-J.D. experience.
• Grand Jury and Felony jury trial experience.
• Experience with VTL sections and PL Art. 125; DMV procedures.
• Extensive experience in criminal investigation and prosecution.
• Excellent writing skills.
• Extensive knowledge of New York Penal and Criminal Procedure Laws.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle complex cases from investigation through grand jury presentation.
• Respond to scenes for significant cases as needed.
• Manage trial preparation, discovery, and motion practice.
• Examine civilian, law enforcement, and expert witnesses in forensic biology and collision reconstruction.
• Treat families with compassion during proceedings.
