Job summary

Uncommon Schools in Boston is seeking teachers for 5-12 grade levels to implement our rigorous curricula and foster student achievement. The role supports both middle and high school students with a focus on college readiness and high expectations.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree before employment begins.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher by the time employment begins.
• All Commonwealth charter teachers must either have an appropriate MA educator’s license or pass required MTELs within first year of employment.
• All core academic teachers assigned to teach English learners are required to earn the SEI endorsement.
• Experience in urban public or charter schools preferred for experienced teachers.
• A background in education is not required for new teachers, but strong candidates should show a passion for working with K-12 students in urban communities.

Responsibilities

• Implement curricula and activities to meet high academic standards.
• Analyze assessments and use data to inform and differentiate instructional practices.
• Focus constantly on student learning, thinking critically and strategically to respond to student learning needs.
• Create a positive, structured learning environment aligned with school values and conduct.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
• Participate in annual staff orientation training in August and ongoing instructional training.
• Participate in grade-level activities and school-wide functions throughout the year.
