Job summary

Invenergy, headquartered in Chicago, is hiring an Analyst, Thermal Development to support the Thermal Development team across gas and thermal power projects. The role is based at our Chicago headquarters and requires a relevant bachelor's degree plus strong analytical and communication skills.

The position focuses on real estate, permitting, interconnection, and regulatory diligence. Expect cross-functional collaboration and opportunities to impact project development within a dynamic energy

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Energy, Business, Environmental Studies or related discipline.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication with strong critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Professional, confidential, and team oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and adapt to changes.
• Willingness to learn energy and utilities industry, especially thermal/natural gas power generation.
• Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Support real estate acquisition and agreements for thermal sites (fee acquisition, easements, option agreements).
• Prepare materials for county, state, and federal permits for thermal projects (air quality, land use, environmental).
• Attend meetings and public hearings to support thermal project development.
• Evaluate site screening factors: gas infrastructure access, transmission proximity, water availability, land suitability.
• Assist diligence across thermal workstreams: fuel supply, interconnection, environmental review, regulatory compliance.
• Support interconnection processes and track milestones in PJM, MISO, ERCOT, SPP queues.
• Prepare budgets, agendas, and schedules; coordinate with Legal, Environmental, Engineering, Finance, Government Affairs.
• Track KPIs and propose process improvements across thermal development workflows.
• Monitor regulatory/policy developments affecting thermal power and natural gas markets.
