The American School for the Deaf operates Isola Bella, a summer camp for deaf and hard of hearing children aged 8 to 17, in Salisbury, CT. We seek a Camp Director to oversee the program, ensure safety, and lead staff and activities in a residential setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with a minimum 3 years of experience with deaf and hard of hearing children/youth.
  • Proficiency in ASL required.
  • Prior experience as a camp director or supervisory capacity within a camp environment.
  • CPR and First Aid encouraged; Lifeguard certificate optional.
  • Strong leadership, judgment and organizational skills; excellent communication.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the total operation of the Isola Bella Summer Program.
  • Interviews and hires staff; schedules training and support.
  • Establishes duty schedules, pay scales, hours and operation logistics.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Acts as Safety Officer for the program.
  • Manages procurement of materials with approval by Camp Manager.
  • Markets and educates the community about Isola Bella.
