Job summary

Texarkana ISD Texas Middle School in Texarkana, TX is seeking a SPED Teacher Self-Contained to support students with special needs. You will provide learning activities and experiences tailored to individual IEP goals, developing or modifying curricula and materials to fit student abilities.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree, a valid Texas special ed teaching certificate, and meeting No Child Left Behind Highly Qualified Teacher standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements.
• Meet No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Highly Qualified Teacher requirements for subject/grade level assigned.
• CPR, first aid and AED certification may be required (ex. PPCD placement).
• At least one year of student teaching or approved internship.

Responsibilities

• Provide special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
• Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels.
• Work in self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned.
