Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools in Minneapolis is seeking a Special Education Teacher (SERT) for 2026-2027 at South High. This full-time position requires teaching students with disabilities, aligning instruction to state standards, and collaborating with campus STEM team as needed.

The ideal candidate holds a Minnesota teaching license for LD/BD or pending licensure, with a Bachelor's degree and urban education experience; a Master's or PhD is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Prior successful experience student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting.
• Demonstrated continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration and/or job-embedded staff development.
• Master's or PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Have knowledge of Minnesota State Standards and District Graduation Requirements; implement best practices and diverse learning styles.
• Teach curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning and problem solving.
• Collaborate with peers to develop and implement best practices based on student needs.
• Assess students' developmental, cognitive and social needs and provide developmentally appropriate instruction.
• Create safe, respectful, engaging learning environments and support diverse student populations.
• Collaborate and communicate with families to support learning and decision-making.
• Participate in ongoing professional development.
