Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools seeks a dedicated Teacher, Special Education for Sanford Middle School (SERT)-License renewal posting for the 2026-2027 year. The role requires a Minnesota teaching license in LD/EB or ABSTR and a strong commitment to equity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
• Prior successful student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting.
• Master’s or PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality instruction aligned to the state and national standards.
• Use a variety of assessment strategies—diagnostic, formative and summative—to inform instructional decisions.
• May work as a member of the campus STEM team to ensure integrated instruction across disciplines.
• Collaborate with peers to develop, plan and implement best practices based on student needs.
• Assess students’ developmental, cognitive and social needs and provide developmentally appropriate instruction.
• Create lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful and inclusive.
• Communicate regularly with families to involve them in educational decisions and utilize community resources.
• Support district Improvement Agenda goals and school goals.
• Engage in ongoing professional development through PDP and staff development.
