Job summary

The Illinois Association of School Administrators seeks a Special Education Teacher to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs within our Steger-area schools. You will collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to foster an inclusive learning environment that supports academic, social, and emotional growth for students with disabilities.

A valid Illinois Professional Educator License is required.

• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to students' unique needs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, parents and support staff to create a supportive learning environment.
• Utilize data to inform instructional decisions and monitor progress toward goals.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to students' unique needs.
• Conduct assessments to identify needs of students.
• Monitor and assess students' progress towards goals.
• Utilize data to inform instructional decisions; collaborate with staff on progress and goals.
• Provide direct instruction to classroom, groups and individual students as needed.
• Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet individual needs and collaborate with staff to implement strategies.
• Motivate students through positive feedback and behavior supports.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
• Create a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students.
• Supervise students in and out of classroom activities during the work day.
• Participate in school events including student activities and district committees.
• Stay current in special education by attending district in-services and professional growth activities.
• Perform other duties as required.
