Job summary

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, serving Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled, seeks a Substitute Teacher to support students with disabilities under the MSSD program. You will design and implement individualized education programs, assess learning styles, and coordinate behavioral and communication supports.

Applicants must have 60 college credits or hold a Missouri Teaching Certificate.

Qualifications

Eligibility to be issued and receive a Missouri Substitute Teacher’s Certificate by documenting a minimum of 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Missouri Teaching Certificate may be required as alternative or additional qualification.

Responsibilities

Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities using MSSD curriculum and considering transition goals, school, employment, community and home learning environments.
Analyze student learning styles from progress data and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
Select age-appropriate, functional activities, materials and sites for teaching.
Conduct IEP team and special education meetings.
Coordinate behavioral support/intervention plans for students with challenging behaviors.
Coordinate communication systems for students.
Maintain a safe environment and confidentiality of student information.
Follow policies of the MSSD program and support daily self-care needs as required.
