Qualifications

• Eligible to be issued Missouri Substitute Teacher’s Certificate by documenting a minimum of 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
• Missouri Teaching Certificate required.
• Professional license pursuant to state law is required.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities using the MSSD curriculum and considering transition goals, school, employment, community, and home learning environments.
• Analyze students' learning styles from progress charts and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
• Select age-appropriate, functional activities, materials, equipment, and sites for instruction.
• Conduct IEP team and special education meetings.
• Coordinate behavioral support/intervention plans for students with challenging behaviors.
• Coordinate communication systems for students.
• Develop and follow an efficient daily schedule for IEP implementation.
• Follow student-specific health care procedures and maintain confidentiality of information.
• Maintain a safe environment and perform daily self-care tasks as needed (toileting, feeding, etc.).
• Maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification as specified by MSSD.
